FUELING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

As you know, it’s important to eat a healthy, balanced diet with regular meal times to help you manage your diabetes. To get the most out of physical activity, it’s also important to:

  • Choose whole foods as snacks, such as bananas, fruits, nuts or whole grain snack bars
  • Drink lots of water to stay well hydrated and help stop blood glucose levels getting too high
  • Include some protein in every meal, including breakfast, to help you build muscle – think white meat, fish, eggs, pulses, nuts or seeds
  • Avoid sugary snacks such as energy drinks and gels, unless used to prevent hypoglycaemia or as part of a carefully considered plan for optimal performance
