ADAM questionnaire

The Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male (ADAM) questionnaire is a fast way to find out if a patient has symptoms or signs that may be related to low testosterone. Simply ask the patient which of the listed symptoms and/or signs below that he has been experiencing, and then click the 'submit' button to view the results.

If results show that the patient has symptoms and/or signs of low testosterone, according to clinical guidelines2-8, this patient should have testosterone levels checked by blood test. The combination of symptoms and/or sign and a low testosterone level (total or free testosterone) constitutes the diagnosis of hypogonadism.2-8

Note that a positive result on the ADAM questionnaire does not necessarily mean that a patient has testosterone deficiency (hypogonadism), which requires the presence of both symptoms and/or signs and a low testosterone level.

The Androgen Deficiency in Ageing Males (ADAM) test allows users to gain an insight into whether or not the symptoms they are experiencing may be suggestive of Testosterone Deficiency (TD), and in turn, whether they should visit a doctor to get their testosterone levels checked. To use the tool, the user selects which of the common symptoms of TD apply to them (such as ‘low libido’ and ‘decreased strength and endurance’). Once they have submitted their chosen symptoms, they will be informed in the next step whether their symptoms are suggestive of TD, and given the option to print their results to take to a doctor’s appointment. A positive result does not necessarily mean that the user is definitely suffering from hypogonadism, but it provides a good starting point for a discussion with a professional.
