Talking to your doctor

In preparation for visiting your doctor, write down any symptoms you are experiencing, including any that may seem unrelated to the reason for which you scheduled the appointment. You should also note any major stresses or recent life changes.

The AMS Questionnaire provides useful information that can aid your doctor in making a possible diagnosis of low testosterone. If you have completed the questionnaire, take a copy with you to your appointment.

Breaking the ice

If you’re embarrassed to mention your specific symptoms, try this lead in:

“I’ve heard a lot about the consequences of low testosterone and think I may be affected - can we talk about it?”

You can then tell your doctor that you have completed the ADAM questionnaire
online and show the results you printed out.
